Hi! I'm new here, and I'll be making the switch from PC to Mac very soon. I'm planning on going into architecture, and I believe a Mac will work best with all the graphics heavy applications I'll be using. Anyhow... I'm a huge hometheater buff, and I'd like to make my new PowerMac the center of a decent HT. I'm hoping I'll be able to use the digital audio outs to connect to my DD/DTS receiver for digital surround on DVD's and use the receiver as a video switch with the 23" Apple display as the monitor for all of it. This would require running several video sources into the receiver and one S-Video cable from the receiver into the PowerMac. Is it possible to add video inputs to the new dual G5 systems (through a PCI device, perhaps), so video components, such as a Playstation, XBox or receiver with on-screen menus, could be displayed through the computer and on that gorgeous 23" screen? I know there are devices for conversion from analog to digital, but is there a device with zero delay, so that, for instance, gaming on the XBox won't produce lag time between button presses and what's shown on screen. I know that the EyeTV produces a 1.5 second delay. Is this the fastest conversion available? Thanks for any help, and I'm sorry if any of this seems unclear. It's been a long day. Sigh...
