Assuming at 20% increased speed from the processor itself- how much will the faster front end bus speed or any other modification be expected to increase performance? Realizing this is all speculation, but I'm deciding about getting the dual 2.0 now versus waiting for the 2.5. My use is event digital photography, lot's of photoshop on fairly large files and many, many files per gig. Thanks....Peter

Right now you're limited by the RAM available. But in the future if you threw in Faster RAM you'd get a boost. If you're working with large files and load it with tons of RAM I imagine you'll see the advantage of the faster bus, if you don't, then you'll probably get little to no benefit from the faster bus. That said, I'd go with the 2.5Ghz... it will make you more manly...

"it will make you more manly.."
yes, and that's what really matters ;>)
but your comments beg the question- I'm planning on getting 1MB Ram from apple and 3MBs from crucial, giving PS it's max usable 2. Is crucial's Ram "fast enough"? Thanks...Peter

Unless you render 3D or Video how often do you see both processors maxed out for an extended period of time that would even have that 20% speed increase save you significant time?

I'd get at least 1 Gig of RAM, 1 Meg isn't going to do much for ya

Joke aside, all the RAM will function at the exact same speed. I have no idea what Superchicken's talking about, all PC3200 run at the same speed, that's the point.

Aside from stuff like differing CAS latency, which is just nitpicking since its effect doesn't really change with the FSB speed afaik.

Photoshop can still bog down the best of computers.

$500 is really a paltry amount extra to pay for an increase in a gigahertz of total processing power. The wait might not be that bad. But no one knows for sure.

Photoshop does better with more RAM and a faster hard drive more then a faster processor. Photoshop gets slow with all the cashing it does.
