Hello folks...

My iMac's monitor looks like wrinkled paper. Specially when I turn off or on the computer and there's a single color in the background I can see these annoying brownish wrinkles. I reset the PRAM a couple of times but after I adjusted the monitor's geometry the wrinkles came back. They are all over the monitor and make all colors look like they have a layer of light beige on top. Can anybody help me with this problem?

Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge and help.

this could be caused by a nunber of things most likely power or framerate or graphic card problems but take it in to an apple reseller.

It's hard to say without seeing the issue (or knowing which model), but it's likely either the CRT or the Analog/Video board.

Thanks for the reply Detrius and macaddict000, I have an iMac Graphite G3/600 MHz. I connected an external monitor and it looks fine so the problem seems to be the CRT.

It's most likely the Analog/Video board in this machine.

Just to say it, though... do you have the 4.1.9f firmware update installed?

Yes, I have that update. The machine came with OS X installed. I just checked the firmware version and it says "1.4.1.9f1" The wrinkles go from the edges of the screen towards the center of the monitor in a wavy pattern but they disappear before touching the center. I tried an external monitor and it looks fine. No wrinkles.
