It's astounding to me that a thread comparing a Power Mac G5 to another computer has no relevance in this message forum. This type of "1984" draconian measure of curtailing speech that is relevant to this board is not in the pattern of what the Apple community should be like. A thread comparing the price performance of a Powermac G5 to a Alienware or any other PC computer is relevant in a "Power Mac forum". Killing the thread only made it grew and raises questions of fairness and of this sites ethics.

At the least moderate topics of this nature only to that thread. Obviously there is interest in that information from the sites visitors.

And it's not exactly that you killed the thread its the way in which it was done... which was very unprofessional.

Link: Will you help me tear this worthless thread to pieces?
PowerMacMan: I will! Permanently this time too.

What kind of crap is that? Obviously that was done in a manner which was very insensitive to other users thoughts on the subject. And that is the core of the matter.

1984... "In the future (!) the PowerMac forum is split into three super powers. With PowerMacMan the people are monitored constantly by Big Brother and policed by four ministries who represent the full power of MacNN. Trancepriest is a writer who's job involves the rewriting of history. However he begins to resent Big Brother and look for a world of freedom and expression. He finds this world in a small back room with fellow message board posters that wish to express themselves. However the Moderators and the Thought Police are never far away."

Wow, total overreaction.

I have seen so many 'Mac v The latest PC™' threads in the Powermac forum over the years that, to me, your post citing '1984 draconian measures' is just laughable.

Chill out, this is the intaweb, not 'real life'...

If there is a lounge.. why not just move the thread to the lounge and open it? I started the thread in the Power Mac forum because it had relevance to the Power mac G5. If it has no relevance to Power Macs... where does it belong?

Discussion and support of all Power Mac models. Future products may also be discussed here; older Macs in Classic Macs. Includes Xserve discussion relating strictly to hardware.
I don't see discussion of PC vs Mac in there anywhere. Hence, this belongs in the lounge. Or better yet, search is your friend as I recall seeing many PC vs Mac threads over the years.

Were they locked too? And my post was very specific comparing the dual 2.5ghz PowerMac vs. a specific alienware computer in a price comparison. I doubt somewhere else on these forums this topic was discussed. My intention of the post was not to compare it with home-made computers but to other pre-built computers from mainstream manufactuters... but peoples expressions run in different courses.

And maybe you can't read.. but i do see discussion of PowerMac models. That entire thread was a discussion of PowerMac models. What we weren't discussing Power Mac Models?

I locked the thread because it became more personal than technical. If you can't see that, then you need to read it again.

Additionally, the thread had turned into RooneyX vs Everyone rather than G5 vs Alienware, and RonneyX could not back up his original claims whatsoever.

The thread had been linked on the main news page, but none of you seemed to want to behave like your thread had been linked on the main news page.

If you're juvenile enough to call me draconian for locking it, then that is your problem. If you cannot handle the 'realities of the internet', then perhaps it is time that you departed from the forums.

Thanks.
