I'm having a hard time deciding on which Apple PowerMac G5 to buy. If the 1.8GHz have the new PCI-X slots then I would probably buy it.

I went for the new 1.8 dual. I figured i would probably never buy any PCI-X card. Lots of stuff is firewire now, anyways.

What do you have now? Are the slots in your current power mac populated? I'm not going to let the lack of PCI-X stop me because the slots in my current model have nothing in them! Now if I could just find the $$$$ to buy the dual 1.8 I'm lusting after ..........

Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

I went with the 2.0 myself, because of the larger HD and more memory out of the box. Plus the 2.0 allow up to 8 gig of ram while the 1.8's only 4. Of course like PCI-x I'll never see that but you never know. The prime reason for me was the hard drive. the 160gig is the minimum I could go with.

I don't see myself using 8GB of Ram, but the bigger HD is nice. I just decided to order the 1.8GHz for $1799, got a nice deal from my friend who work at an authorized Apple dealer.

personally i think the dual 2.0 is the only one worth buying
the dual 2.5 is a rev a and that water cooling system is just asking to leak , ok applecare - but that only lasts 3 years
the dual 1.8 has a silly 80gb hd
