A client has installed Jaguar on iMac G3 350MHz and now the display is all-blue! What could be the problem?

Did they upgrade the firmware first? 4.1.9 is the latest.

I'd bet not. Do I have to downgrade and then do the firmware update?

Cool, that worked!
New problem: The installation of Jaguar (done pre-firmware update), while its permissions can be repaired via the Jaguar startup disc, is not recognized as a bootable! Even after starting up holding down Option, I am not offered OS X as a way to boot, only OS 9. And to make matters worse, due to a problem with this client's machine, I cannot invoke the Startup Disk control panel from within OS 9.
So, I could do an Archive and Install of OS X again (post-firmware update), but that's difficult on a mere 10GB hard drive. Suggestions? Is there a way to revive my OS X installation, or do I have to reinstall for sure?

I'm assuming 9 and X are installed on the same partition. If so, holding Option at startup will only show 1 OS per partition. Since OS 9 is currently set as startup, the boot menu will show it instead of X. Try holding the X key at startup, which should boot the computer into X.

Oh, yes -- of course. I had forgotten because on my own machine, I have OS 9 and OS X installed on separate drives. Thanks.
