So I am sitting here waiting for my brand new Dual 2.0 that was shipped Priority Overnight, wasting vacation hours, and I check the tracking information and lo and behold, a delivery attempt made at 8:55 AM. Only thing is, I was sitting right here (embarassingly enough, listening very closely for the truck) at 8:55 AM. FedEx never came within a 100 foot radius of my apartment, no note on my door, no actual delivery attempt whatsoever.

Anyway, called up FedEx and very calmly but firmly asked where my package was. They of course gave me the runaround and said they would send a message to the driver and blah blah. They "guarantee" 10:30 AM delivery and I wish that I could bill them for wasting my vacation hours every minute past that. 22 minutes to go... will FedEx show up?

Think of the bright side: At least you're dealing with FedEx and not USPS.

Haha... I suppose so.

Just got off the phone, new delivery quote is 11 AM which apparently came directly from the driver. The saga continues... 15 minutes to go.

And it has arrived... nearly all faith restored in FedEx. Driver gave me long story about attempting to deliver to wrong address. Didn't bother to tell him I was listening for his truck, heard UPS but not him. Anyway, time to play a bit before work!

Edit: apartment, not address

Glad to hear it arrived. Let us know how it goes, and post some pics!

Part of me wishes I had just ordered the 2.0 instead of the 2.5! I'm dying for this thing to arrive.

Enjoy your new machine!

My budget allowed for either the dual 2.0 and the 9800 XT or the dual 2.5 and the 9600 XT... since I am an avid game player I went with the badass graphics card. I don't really need the 2.5 (except for more future-proofing) and I consider it a Rev A machine due to the liquid cooling system. So that was three strikes, dual 2.5 was out. (Plus the extended wait)

BTW, the 9800 XT really does take up 2 slots, it has a huge cylindrical heatsink and a fan. It is nearly silent thankfully... I can't tell the difference between this G5 and the 1.6 I have at work noise-wise. I will post pics tonight.

The driver was going to steal it, but your call to HQ put the kabbash on his treachery. He had to make up the bull about trying and pretend he was doing his job.

He'll steal the next one.

Huh?

Why do you say that. Nobody signed for it and he would have to return it back the distribution center for another try tomorrow.

That crossed my mind for a moment, however I came up with a more reasonable hypothesis. Since he has a quota of "guaranteed priority overnight" packages to deliver by 10:30, he decided to cheat the system by scanning boxes in his truck as "delivery attempt", then drop them off later in the day at his leisure. He probably thought that since it was an apartment, no one would be there to accept it anyway. In actuality, I was sitting in my home office being totally geeky anxious and checking the tracking info every 15 minutes.

What really made me mad is that he said to my face that he had the right building but the wrong apartment during the first attempt. However, my apartment overlooks the very secluded parking lot and I would absoultely have heard his truck and seen him out the window. I just don't like being lied to and decieved by this "delivery attempt".

Typical FedEx bull. I can't tell you how many times this has happened to me in the past. I have been dealing with FE for years now, and every fifth time, they give me this line when I had been waiting in the front room of the house with a full view of the street.

Good job getting them to deliver.

I was being a bit fecitious and a bunch negative because of the other thread about FedEx losing a guy's G5 here.

You don't think I would accuse a driver of actually stealing a package instead of delivering it, do you? That NEVER happens!
