I just ordered m new Dual 2.5 also. However, I don't get the educational price.

I also ordered the last year's 20" monitor - I like it better than the pics I saw today.

Can't wait, but guess I will have to. they told me about the middle of July for delivery. We will see.....

I'm almost there...

I'm gonna buy a 30" monitor. It's a must have. Which means I'd hafta buy the high-falutin GeForce 6800 card for my dual 2 gig G5. Oh, and I'm gonna buy some speakers while I'm at it. That's like $4200 plus tax.

OR I order a new new dual 2.5 with the GeForce 6800, a 30" display, speakers, supersize the HD to 250 gigs, and get get a couple other doo-dads and Applecare for about $7500 plus tax THEN sell my dual 2 gig and 23" hdcd (with a few goodies in it) for around $3000, and pay the $4500 difference and get my big display and a new computer out of it.

Am I crazy?

Hey, Thanks! That would solve all my dilemmas!

I've only got 1.5 gigs ram and the stock video card in my dual 2 gigger, think you could live with such an out-dated beast? I suppose the new shiney G5 would help ease the dissappointment, though.

Now I've got to choose between a cave or a monastary...

Hi all,
Im in the same boat, ill probably order sometime this week. The only thing that bothers me is that there's no workstation caliber video cards out for the mac. Does anyone know if the 6800 is close to workstation caliber? see I do 3D work(maya) and it would totally suck if the 6800 was more geared towards games! All this time I was using either my Tibook 1ghz or my crappy PC for Maya work - The DP2.5 w/nvidia card and 2.5gigs o'ram should give me a huge boost, atleast thats what Im hoping.

oh and the best thing is I can still use my student discount

Tsk tsk... the proper strategy is to spin the purchase so that it sounds like it benefits her, or throw in something nice for her computer (if she's not geeky, you're on your own).

this just in

On or before
08/31/2004

That is unacceptable, I might change my order back, man why the hell can't they release things when they are at least CLOSE to having them ready to ship

quite unhappy here

and to the aboved poster, I beleive that the 6800 is geared more towards games, not workstation functions

Say...

If I'm buying a 2x2.5 gigger with a 30" monitor, it'd sure be handy to have a school going co-worker or neighbor order it for me... even flip 'em some bones for the transaction... hmmmmm...
