FedEx dropped it off around 1:30 PM and because I was swamped with a client at the time, I just signed for it and it sat there until a few minutes ago.
I couldn't wait. I carefully opened the box, saw the tidy packaging, and then gently lifted the case from its carbonite-like prison; if only I'd had a Boschh costume handy! I slowly slid the covering off of the tower, like fishnet pantyhose down the leg of a gorgeous woman, and mine eyes beheld the aluminum spectacle of the dual 1.8 GHz Power Mac G5. I looked at it from all sides, taking in each inch of the flawless frame as if it were breath -- from the clean front panel, to the brushed aluminum side panels, to the neatly-organized and arranged port cluster at the back.
I popped off the side panel and gazed inside through the plastic shroud, and both of my bosses immediately pointed out how absolutely clean and uncluttered the interior was. What I saw wasn't "guts," no mismatched PCI card colors; there was no spaghetti mass of wires, it was just...immaculate. Even the second hard drive slot was ready, the cables already in position and ready for another SATA drive.
I drank in the vision of the G5, oblivious to the comments of my co-workers, and my hunger was sated, if just temporarily. Sadly, I had to put the side panel back on, locked it down, and entombed the case inside its ghastly sheath and back into its cardboard sarcophagus, where it must wait until after 5 PM to once again be released......
