for some reason when i turn on my work G3, my monitor is not turning on. i did a fresh install on panther on my G3 at work. i had to go do something & left the G3 while it was installing panther. i came back & my monitor was off. its like the display went to sleep & never came back on again.

i rebooted & the monitor doesnt come on anymore. i try booting into the CD but still the monitor doesnt turn on. the light is green but i see nothing on the screen even when restarting the system the monitor doesnt go on. i even added a new HDD to my system for more space & the monitor still doesnt turn on. the lite is green on the monitor though.

i can hear the monitor turn on when turning on the system then i hear a click sound like its going to sleeep or something.

we dont have a spare Mac at so any help would be appreciated. My work place is too frugal to buy me a new system. im the System Admin at work & i have to use an old hand me down.

Try connecting the monitor to a different computer, see if it's the monitor that has blown out.

Is it a Beige G3 running 10.2.6 or 10.2.8, by any chance?

If so, read this:

yes its a Beige G3. it was running 10.2.8 but it all started when i installed Panther. I am unable to see anything to try your suggestion War. My monitor works fine on another system. I tested it out on one or our older G3s. I cant even get it to boot into CD. thanks for all the suggestions.
