firewire devices won't mount - ipod and HD

For some reason my iPod and external 60GB HD won't mount to the desktop today. Does anyone know of a solution and/or utility to help?

I rebooted with no devices, then plugged my iPod in and it mounted. Then plugged HD in and it mounted.

Previously, I did "command+opt+P+R" (PRAM reboot - to no effect).
