I have 2 internal IBM drives in my G4, and I remember when getting them that one has a 2MB buffer/cache/whatever and the other has an 8MB one.

How can I know which is which?

Thanks

Run the model/serial numbers through the Hitachi Global Storage Technologies website.

Ah, good idea.... Definitely should've thought of that, thanks.

Is there any way to check through software another way? Will anything just somehow tell me? I'm lazy

Check the labels to see if one talks about the HUGE cache on "our latest model!!!"

I do not know of any way to find the cache size directly. Apple System Profiler should provide the model/serial numbers though.

Ok, I'll do that if I decide to open my computer for whatever reason.

Thanks again

Hey, I suddenly figured out where I'd seen your name before. That was a cool AppleAd, you should have entered it into the first Film Competition for the easy win.

The annual MacNN Film Competition. The discussion forum is located here.

We're about due for another one to start up; since your Ad was never entered, I suspect it is still eligible.

Edit: The link apparently does not work for members, until the conspiracy is completed and the next Film Competition gets going. Remember to forget that link until the time is right.
