i want to help my friend upgrade his 400mhz G4 tower from 9.2.2 to 10.3;
where exactly do i find the current firmware version?? (i tried the system profiler...)

i have read the instructions on apple's site, but unsure where that info resides.


anyway,
any tips or help would be greatly appreciated...

If he has OS 9 on the machine, OS 9's Software Update should download the appropriate Firmware.

software update doesn't offer firmware updates (as far as i can see...)

is the boot rom # in system profiler the same as the firmware version #??

I could be wrong but doesn't the latest install CD contain the latest firmwares?

One of the CDs contains a Utilities folder which contains firmware updates I think. Can't find my CDs so I can't check for you

It most certainly does. If a firmware update is available and not yet installed, then the updater will be downloaded and saved to the desktop.
