[Mac Hammer Fan]

Except for the slower PCI slots, will these Macs perform as good as those from the first generation? The memory limit is not a problem for me, but I visited the website of Xbench and I was disappointed that the new CPU scores were worse than the old ones. It could however be related to the latest version of Panther 10.3.4 or a setting in the Energy saver Control Panel. I am not sure of that.
I want to buy a Mac that provides a fast conversion from DV to mp4 and that is fast enough for video editing.
And even Dual G4 1.25 was a bit too slow i.m.o.
Any experiences?

The biggest difference between the old dual 1.8 and the new dual 1.8 is the old one can do 8GB of ram (8 slots) and the new one can only do 4GB. But I would put more weight on the 8 slots than the 4-slots because you will fill them up slower as you upgrade the RAM. Beats having to remove ram to increase ram (know what I mean?).
