If someone you know is looking for an iMac, officedepot.com has them listed in stock right now. Though I'm sure with Apple.com's message, most people will be happy to wait.

Office Depot is one of the few retailers that I think is capable of being a good place for Mac hardware to be presented and sold.

Their associates are usually quite knowledgable and there is always one around when you need help. The opposite is true at Best Buy. Office Depot also isn't very cluttered with merchandise like Best Buy is, so you'll be a lot less likely to see the 'Mac Section' be a dark crampt corner in the back of the store.

I look forward to seeing my local Office Depot get everything set up as well.

Exactly.

But: OD might sell a few to people who have NO clue about Apple at all and don't even know that a new iMac is in the pipeline. Well, they probably won't even know 6 months after the new iMac came out...

Macs aren't being sold in Office Depot stores, only on the website. I don't see the point, but oh well.

A lot of businesses have credit and accounts w/ OD. Therefore, if such company can order through OD, then they don't need to deal w/ other (new) accounts. Really, that is the only benefit of the online partnership: corporate sales.

more deal like that can't be bad though huh? i mean, they have had deals like this with compUSA for some time. however, the one in towson, md often seems like an afterthought now that they opened an apple store in the towson town center mall.

Somewhat related: if you look really close on CDW's newest commercial, at the very end the quickly flash through a bunch of different products, and a G5 is the first :-)

I just got a job at OD. They hired me partially because I have a lot of mac experience, and they'll find that very useful when questions start to roll in. I personally am very excited to be able to help people with thier macs.
