I friend has two old imacs, with the tray, not the slot.
one tray worked and I upgraded to OS X for him and its working fine.
the second one's tray cd reader is not working properly.
aafter much help here on networking, and a trip to Apple palo alto, the only thing to do is replace the CD tray.
I took it apart and the tray does not have a regular 'ribbon' to the cdreader, but some sort of "video" looking plug.
would a slot loading cd work in this imac? there seem to be some of those on ebay, and only one tray available.
as its going to a good cause, please let me konw if the tray imac will accept a slot cd reader, so do we just have to wait for a tray cheap on ebay?
