I have a new G5 I'd like to add a second monitor to. I just realized, in my parts drawer, I have a newish ATi 16meg PCI card... the stock card that shipped with the G4 Cube (Rage Pro, I believe...)
Any ideas if this will this card work in my G5?
It's a low-end card I plan to attach a second, 15" LCD to use for all my application palates.
THANKS!
mg.

Why'd don't you just use the second video out port on the stock card you've already got in your G5? It'd be a hell of a lot better than an old Rage 128.
That aside, it should work.

That Rage 128 won't work in your G5. It's an AGP video card, and your G5 only has one AGP slot. If you want more than two monitors (both connected to the G5's stock video card), you'll have to get a PCI video card. There are plenty of Mac-compatible PCI video cards available on eBay, or you could get a new Radeon 9200 PCI for... well, too much money (something like $120).
I'd say just connect two monitors to the G5's stock video card. Then they'll both run nice and fast. Yeah, it'll cut the VRAM in half, but that won't make a huge difference.

He did mention it was PCI, and if so, it should work fine.

But the stock cube card was AGP. AGP and PCI look a lot a like - are you sure you've got a PCI board?
In any case... just use the second port on the g5's card...

Yeah, I was wrong--it is an AGP card. I had no clue I could do a dual monitor right off the stock card! SWEET!
I knew it had 2 ports, just didn't know they could be used in unison.
Thanks all!

All newer video cards within the last couple of years are dual head and support dual monitors.
