Can't seem to find a reference to this problem on this board:

I recently decided to install a new PRAM battery in my iMacDV as it had been forgetting the date and time every time the power cable was unplugged. After I installed the new battery it booted fine, however each subsequent reboot causes only the machine to chime and the power button to turn green and then stop? No video or anything else? Can't boot from CD, go into OF or anything?

Reset the PMU on the motherboard and all was OK again for the first boot but again every reboot causes the no video issue?

What is going on?

Any help would be much appreciated!

Do you have the 4.1.9f firmware?

My guess is that in replacing the battery, you may have sent a nice little static charge somewhere into the logic board.

Managed to fix it!

In Open Firmware typed:

reset-nvram
set-defaults
reset-all

And it seems to have cured it (I never used to type "set-defaults")!

To Detritus the firmware is up to date. Also the chance of Static discharge here in Asia is a lot lower due to the high humidity, but I still discharge just in case anyways. But thanks for some ideas as to what might of caused it!
