Hello!
I just recently added a WD 250GB disk to my 2x2 G5, and the disk performance is _worse_ than the 160GB Seagate the system shipped with.
Here's the Xbench results:
---------------------------------------
Results 106.30
System Info
Xbench Version 1.1.3
System Version 10.3.4 (7H63)

L1 Cache 64K (instruction), 32K (data)
L2 Cache 512K @ 2.00 GHz

And here's the WD:

In the first case, the Seagate does pretty well, about where I'd expect, save for the 4k sequential read, which is about 25% of where it probably should be, for sequential work.
The WD is appreciably faster in writes, altho, not up to where it should be. It should be noted, however, that that disk is about 1/3 full with video captures, so it doesn't get the benefit of using the fastest area of the disk. However, the read speeds for the WD are simply _atrocious_, in fact, they're slower than the Seagate by about half.
I ran these tests about five times for each disk, and these are the _best_ numbers they posted. What, if anything, am I doing wrong?
For comparison, I checked out the Xbench site's database, and even 867MHz G4's post better disk numbers than this. What gives?
