I previously had a 12" powerbook g4 but sold it because I don't need the portability / lust after the desktop power.... I'm so excited about it's arrival.

I was going to order a 20" monitor but, I don't know, the price point compared to other LCD options just didn't win me over. I'm going to use my old 19" CRT (cornerstone) for a while to see what happens in the LCD market - only good things are coming, it seems.

I'm not looking forward to using carbon copy cloner to get all of my old data/applications from my lacie FW drive to the new machine (will probably post in a better forum for some advise about that), but other than that, I can't wait to join the club in 7-10 days or so!

Let us know how the new machine is, should be a sweet upgrade from a 12 inch PB.

don't worry.... I will be sure to post about it! I have a feeling it will be a little bit faster than the 677 mhz powerbook. I'm a little dissapointed about not getting the lcd (and I guess I can't get applecare for the both anymore) but springing for the combination just didn't feel right now for some reason. Maybe after a second revision or some more user review. Or, maybe just getting two 19" LCDS side by side for more or less the same price down the road!

You're excited....... So you should be :-)

Enjoy your new machine. It's a true monster compared to a 12" Powerbook. Just take the memory upward of 1GB when you get it. It makes a big difference and really brings the machine into balance.

Have fun. I know I did. (and still am)

Congrats! I have a dual 2.0 and work just bought me a 1.3 12" powerbook. So I can tell you right now the dual (obviously) is a whole heck of a lot more powerful than the latest powerbook.

I also have the older style 20" screen and it is fantastic. If you can afford it the new screen is supposed to be even better.

Congrats.

Glad to hear you enjoy your new 20" screen - this is what I ordered when I got my my new 2.5.

The monitor has been sitting here in the box for a month waiting for the computer to come. Hopefully next week, but they are now saying August!!!!!!!
