I think the firewire ports on my eMac are fried. Nothing will mount when plugged into it and when I run the System Profiler under the firewire catagory it simply states "No info available". My ipod will charge when plugged in but won't mount and my firewire hard drives don't mount either. Sunday it goes into the Apple Store in Marlton for repair, thank God for Applecare. My question is will they have to replace the whole logic board or just the ports?

I had this problem as well. My iPod would charge, but wouldn't mount. I just shut down the computer and unpluged it for say...30 minutes. Pluged it back in, powered it up...then my ipod mounted just fine. Perhaps this will also work in your case?

When I dropped it off at the Apple store it wouldn't even turn on and I just turned it off about 3 hrs before. Looks like I need a new logic board. Is there any chance that they have no more 1GHz ones left and I get a newer one? I know fat chance...

Well my eMac is back home with the new logic board and all is well. The Applecare plan is well worth the money I spent. It has never failed me yet. If you don't have it and still have time to get one for your Mac I say buy it.
