i got ahold of a 350 of this model g4 and am curious if there is a ~120GB limit for a HD. Where can I find info like that for other models? thx

Well, it's pretty easy. Only the Quicksilver 2002 PowerMac G4s and later are free of the low hard drive limit. The 2001 Quicksilver models, as well as all graphite and blue PowerMacs, have the 137 GB limit.

You can get a cheap ATA/133 PCI card and hook a big HD up to that, though. That'll get around the limit with no problems.

That's right, except for the "cheap" part. Mac-compatible ATA/100 or 133 cards are friggin' expensive. Be prepared to pay a bare minimum of $50 - probably more like $80 to get one. But if you DO get one, then yes, it'll get around the limit while also giving you faster performance.

My Yikes! is dying! Can't stop the drive corruption... always the 1st block... kernal panics, every hour on the hour... getting heavy breathing for a 2gHz dual processor G5.
