Hello -
I hope this isn't the wrong forum - my question seems to cover a few bases...
I just picked up a Rev B 2x2g G5 to replace my oldedr 2x450 G4. The G5 came with the bog-standard Geforce 5200 (we needed it quickly and getting a BTO from an Apple reseller isn't that easy).
About 9 months ago I bought an AGP Radeon 9000 to go in the G4 - my question is : which would be faster in the G5? The Radeon or the Geforce?
I've seen some stats comparing and both seem roughly the same....
Thanks!
c

I don't think it will matter... the Radeon 9000 AFAIK wont work in the G5.

Thanks Cadaver -
That answers my question, anyway! I guess I should wait a while before updating the card. The G5 is a big, big improvement on my old 450...
But damn it's a large machine.

The GFFX 5200 is faster than the Radeon 9000. Don't know about a 9000 working in a G5, anyway. Might, but I think AGP Pro and the regular AGP slots are slightly different.

The Radeon 9000's ADC power connector pins are keyed for the AGP slots in the G4 machines. The ADC power connectors in the G5's AGP Pro slot are in a different position; wont line up.
Might be able to make it fit if you don't mind loosing ADC capability. However, I still don't know if the card will fit. The AGP Pro slot is physically a little different, and requires a card that's either specifically designed for an AGP Pro slot or a Universal AGP card. Apple's prior nvidia GeForce 3 and GeForce 4Ti cards will not fit.
