I am planning to purchase a Dual 1.8 G5 perhaps in the next month, however I have a question.

I plan to go dual monitor; and I'm not ready to invest in an LCD or an Apple LCD at the moment, leaving me to use CRT's - which are fine by me (especially my wallet like them too.)

However, the standard GeForce FX 5200 - has an ADC and a DVI connector, but my CRT's have a VGA connector.

I know that Apple includes a DVI to VGA adapter; but does not include an ADC adapter; so if I were to purcahse a Dr Bott ADC to VGA Adapter; it'd work.

But my main question is this: Will/would I notice a difference in picture quality between the two monitors? Since they are both digital, I don't think I have much worry about, but then again - I'm not sure. The monitor's in question would be the same model, and probably from the same batch, and were shipped on the same create, and were produced with in minutes of each other.

Unless the DVI to VGA or ADC to VGA adapter is defective, picture quality will be the same from either port.

Dual digital monitors works fine with the G5 Dual 1.8.

I'm sure they are fine - but mine aren't digital monitors, they are CRT's.

I've got the exact setup you're talking about. The DVI-> VGA on my main 21" monitor and the Dr. Bott ADC -> VGA on my secondary 19" monitor. Its really difficult to say quality wise as the two monitors are different brand/model as well as the fact that one is pro grade and calibrated and one isn't. But as to quality wise, there really isn't any degradation is quality. Hope that helps.

I have a Rev. A 1.8 SP G5, with the stock 5200 FX running two Sony 19" G400 CRTs of the same vintage. While there is a very slight difference in brightness (I'd attribute this to age more than anything else), I would say that overall picture quality is equivalent. One monitor is connected with the Apple provided DVI->VGA converter, the other via a Dr. Bott ADC->VGA converter.
