I'm going to replace my mother-in-law's Mac with a new iMac. She has an ancient Performa 6200 series Mac.

How can I move the files over? This is pre firewire. There's no CD burner, just a floppy. I'm not sure how much data she has, but she obviously has years of files.

Thanks for your help.

Does this computer have an ethernet port? If so, get an ethernet cord and copy between. If not, I think there are ways to get adapters to connect that will allow you to connect to an ethernet network. Sorry I don't have any links.

Good luck

I just looked at the specs, and it says there is an ethernet port. So that should work. You might need what they call a Cross-Over Cable, a special ethernet cable.

She won't need to use a special crossover cable, since her new iMac will have an autoconfiguring Ethernet port.
