I have a friend who has a imac 15" lcd computer. Her display started out with the mouse pointer "dragging" (her term) going slow and leaving traces across screen.. Not long after that the screen completely screwed up until now it is barely visible. The display has become very bright with vertical and horizontal white lines but not usable at all. You can see some color too, probably from her desktop. She managed to hook up an external monitor and it works fine. I am an ex Mac Tech from about 1981 to 1999 but have not worked on any of the new models. I did manage to remove the bottom and confirm video cable is plugged in good to the logic bd but that is as far as I went.
Questions are:
What are possible causes of these symptons? Logic bd? Display? etc...
Is it possible to have a loose cable connection on the LCD side?
Do I need a special tool to take apart the LCD display and where can I get the tool?
Is there some place on the web to get detailed info on take apart, trouble shooting, parts, etc??
Any help, advice, suggestions most welcomed...
