Downloaded software update - now Tab and Caps Lock don't work???

I just downloaded a couple software updates from the Updater (OSX and a security update, I believe) - and now my Tab and Caps Lock keys don't work! Any suggestions on things I can try to do before I have to start spending money on something this silly? I've gone through and tried all the keys - those are the only two affected. Thanks!
