I have an upgraded Sawtooth tower and a recent G4 Powerbook with Airport extreme. I'm using a Netgear Wireless G router and the Powerbook seems to be faster overall downloading and surfing the web. Is this just a case of faster bus speed or can i somehow tweak or upgrade the ethernet on my tower for more speed?

Also, is there a way to test the network speed of each machine to know whether i'm just imagining things? It would be nice to optimize the speed of my Sawtooth tower either through software or buying a faster ethernet card. Any help is appreciated!

Thanks.

Are they both running the same version of OS X?

They should be around the same speed unless your saw tooth is anemic for RAM

The Sawtooth G4 actually has more RAM (1.5GB vs. 1GB in the PB) and they are both running the same version of OS X. Perhaps the tower just needs a fresh install? Thanks for the reply!
