I have a refurb dual 2.0 Rev. A. Radeon 9600. Haven't had a problem at all with it...purchased in Feb.

Today I shut it down completely. When I came back and restarted, it makes the OS Chime however I do not get anything on my monitors. Eventually the fans come on full force. I tried zapping the PRAM but it's not recognizing the keyboard. I pulled out the battery for a few minutes, but that did not help.

Anyone have any ideas?

I Plan on taking it into the Shorthills Applestore tomorrow. I have a WD Raptor as the primary and used the 160 as a backup which contains my music. If for whatever reason the machine needs to be sent out for repair, do they format your hard drives?

Early models shipped with a slightly out-of-spec Radeon 9600, though the problem you describe mostly occured in rather cold rooms.

Ask Apple to replace the card, as I did. Everything's fine for me ever since (november last year).

Always back up the hard drive before sending it in for repair. They may format it, replace it, or condemn the entire machine and send you a new one.

Do not depend on getting your data back from a repair operation. You might, but there are lots of possibilities where you get a new hard drive and the old one ends up in a landfill.

I took it into the applestore.. They Said it was the logic board or the video card and are sending it out for a week. The Genius said they won't touch the Hard Drvies (one is my WD raptor that I used as my primary) and if they have to format them they will image them first.

To make me feel better while I was at the genius bar, my wife to be went and bought me a new 23 HD Display. Man I love Her!! Awesome connected to my powerbook.
