Hi there!

I own a 20" iMac with 768MB ram.
I'd like to upgrade my ram to higher, but I don't want change from the user slot. I'd like to change the factory slot ram to 1Gb and some company selling it.
I found one company here who'll change it for me without lose my warranty.
So, Has somebody got this factory slot ram? Does it works well?

cheers

The original Apple specifications for your computer state that each memory slot can only hold a 512mb chip, but you can actually expand beyond that with the some of the newer chips on the market. A 1Gb chip is now possible for each slot.

Companys like Crucial sell PC2100/2700/3200 1Gb chips that will fit. You need the "128mb x 64" type configuration. About $250 for the Apple DIMM slot and $400 for the user SODIMM slot.

Hi skirbomatic!

Thx for quick msg mate!
I read everything about this and found another company where cheaper it, http://www.transintl.com/store/categ...?Category=2448
Just I'd like to know somebody has got it + using it for a while. I don't know it's worth or not.
Because I've got 512 MB ram in the user slot and if change that one to 1GB what I'll do with 512Mb ram. I can't sell it on good price
That's why I'm thinking to change the factory slot ram.
