Erasing a Partition resizing a Volume

How can I erase a Partition an un mount the disk image and make it useable for my startup disk.

set up 4 volume on HD 60 GB
Here my HDrive setup ; I give 30 GB Partition to my PhotoDrive were I have all Image Application Programs installed..
Then 15 GB Partition for all general Applications what comes after the OS installation and don’t need to be installed into the OS system . I trust there the Installer window how tells you where to install into.
Then 7,5 to my Max os x system ( 1.5 GB left free )
And 7,5 to my Mac os 9 Classic
now i am runing ouf off start up disk space and i like to clear my OS9 volumen and make it avalabel to OS X .

do u know how ????

Youwill have to backup and start again, or buy another drive to intall your OS onto. I dont know of any applications that will let you re-partition a Mac drive without erasing the drive.

I kept running into this problem and finally quit partitioning my drives. It seems that a lot of users (including me), use partitioning as a way to organize information that could be just as well handled by good folder use. Without partitions, Everything seems to run fine. note, that I do have a second drive for OS9 and emergency boots, so partitioning was never critical.

Note, every time I say something like that, one of the great Unix folks on the board will chime in with some strange Unix alchemy that can do anything.

VolumeWorks

Partition Toolkit

I keep extra partitions around for alternate OS installs as well as emergencies. That way I can install a new OS version, but take my time migrating. No need to find out the hard way about that new incompatibility.
