I have been reading a lot about the dual 2.5s having delayed ship dates.

2 and a half weeks ago I ordered the dual 2 gig (not 2.5 gig) machine via a retailer here in Toronto. If I had been willing to have the stock video card I could have had a machine right away. However I really wanted to upgrade the graphics card to 128 megs VRAM and for that reason alone they put in a custom order.

I was told it would take Apple two weeks to get the custom order to Toronto for me.

It's 2.5 weeks later and I just heard that the retailer called Apple who says there is a component shortage on that machine, that they will build it as soon as they have the component, and that it will take potentially another two weeks to get to me after that.

So we are looking at potentially a 6 week wait for a dual 2 gig machine with the 128 meg video card.

Something seems funny about that.....

Has anybody here heard of delays like this for this model?

I had been under the impression that these were readily available, even for custom orders.....

I had to wait 5 weeks for my DP2.0 with the 9600XT ... I've read here on MacNN that there are a lot of ppl who had to wait quite some time for their 2.0 ... (as well as for 2.5's as you stated)

On the label of my DP2.0 it says '9600XT', so they can't just put it in at the store ... unlike DDR or AE

wow. Well at least I know I'm not alone. The Apple Store show's 5-7 bus days for delivery of the 2.0 with the 9600XT. How could the Apple Store be so far off reality? Does it often show 'optimistic' shipping estimates?

Mine says on or before 8/31/04. Then again, I got a 6800 Ultra in it. I ordered on 8/12.
