Hi,

My wireless internet access setup is the cable modem to Linksys Wireless-B router to Mac.

I've been using the airport card on TiPB, and it works perfectly. I can see "Linksys" network active icon as soon as the PowerBook is on. However, when I installed the same card to the desktop G4/466, G4's profile recognized the card, but Airport can't find the Linksys network. I don't think it's broken internal antenna thing, because I tried it on other desktop G4, and the result was the same.

What am I doing wrong here? Does anyone has any suggestion that I can try?

Thanks in advance.

Do you have any security settings in place on the wireless router that might need to be modified to accept the new computer on the wireless network? Or maybe some security setting needs to be set or unset on the desktop?

You mention it's the same card as you have in the powerbook, is it the actual physical same card taken out of the powerbook, or a second airport card of the same kind?

I have got access control enabled on my Airport Base stations, so for any wireless card to access our networks I first have to key in the new card's MAC number into the ABS configuration. If I don't, I have exactly the same symptoms you described: every other computer works fine, but the new one does not even see the wireless network.

This happens every single time we put in a new computer with airport, and it drives me batty trying to figure out what's wrong for about 10 minutes.

Not sure if I've been able to help, but good luck!

Thank you very much for your reply Stephanie.

I believe you are right that it requires some configuration to recognize Linksys network. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to do this, so I will e-mail Linksys for getting advice later. I've been spoiled as a long time Mac user that I expect to plug and play everything on Mac. It's about time to learn a little.

Thanks again.
