OK, I've heard yes, I've heard no, I've heard maybe! It's time for a definitive answer.
The situation:
I have a dual 800 with a Radeon 9000 and Apple ADC CRT 17" monitor. What I want to do is upgrade to a 9800 Pro sometime in the future, but if I don't have to get a new monitor, I wouldn't mind keeping this one. I've heard that the CRT ADC monitor will not work with the $100 DVI-to-ADC adaptor. I've also heard the opposite, where it works sometimes, or can be spotty. I've also heard that it only works with the LCD ADC monitors.
So, I ask, which is it? If it won't work with the adaptor, is there any possible way to get it working? What exactly is the technical problem preventing it from working if this is the case? I assume it's because the CRT ADC model draws more power from the ADC than the LCD models, but I'd like to make sure.
Am I pretty much dead in the water with only the 9000 being a compatible card with this machine and monitor? I'm worried that I have certainly shot myself in the foot with getting this monitor. I like it, but I also would like to give my computer a little more life in the gaming arena while keeping the monitor.
A simple yea or nay is welcome, but explanations are preferred! Thanks.

I had Apple CRT 17 inch display, but it developed some strange problems after few years of use, such inability to display 1280 resolution, and its frequency was quite limited, so I was kind of disspointed by its performance, though when I bought it, it was advertised as having Diamondtron tube (Mitsubishi-made), but turned out to be not as good. I ended up putting it somewhere in a corner, where it gathers dust, and buying Beng FP737 LCD screen with a very good response time and vibrant colors. If you upgrading your videocard, makes sense to me to upgrade the monitor as well, or it can turn out to be your constraint.

I've the same set-up (with a GF3) and monitor, and we're hosed.
It's the power that the CRT needs that causes the problem.

Yeah, after a little research, it turns out to be the power and the signal—the DVIator works with a digital signal (as well as the ADC LCDs), and this ADC CRT expects an analogue signal.
Damn it, Apple.
Damn, I really liked this monitor, too. I've never had any trouble with it. I run it at 1056x792, only because I can't stand the 75Hz at 1280X1024—drives me batty after about five minutes, and besides, it's pretty small on a monitor of this size—but other than that, she's been good to me.
Ah well. I guess I'll just suck it up and upgrade my monitor first, then maybe the 9800 later down the road.
Thanks!
