I'm considering getting a build to order G5 dual 2.5 with the bluetooth installed and wireless keyboard/mouse option. This will probably take some time to arrive judging from other posts. Is there an advantage over buying a currently locally available stock machine and adding on a bluetooth adaptor (and buying a wireless keyboard)? thanks !!

The BTO bluetooth module is internal and doesn't take up a USB port. You can not buy the internal modules after-market.

We'll you can get the BT module internal after the fact but it will cost far more than getting it as a BTO item.
- TiBook 867mhz
- Rev. A Dual 2.0ghz PowerMac G5, 3 Gigs Ram, Dual Dell 24" displays.
- Imac G4 20" with 1 Gig of ram

I guess trying to get an internal bluetooth module afterwards would be too much trouble. I was just trying to get people's opinions about if it was better to get it BTO or an external usb bluetooth dongle/adapter and getting a usb hub to make up for the lost port.

I read somewhere that if you need to select a different boot up drive at startup and don't have the factory installed bluetooth you will need to plug in a keyboard.

Apparently the factory bluetooth is accesses as soon as the power is on and is setup to detect a keyboard and mouse. The bluetooth dongle does not have this option.

Has anyone with a dongle tried to change a boot drive at startup with a Bluetooth keyboard?

I have the BTO bluetooth module and I can not do most of the startup key combos. Bluetooth doesn't pair to devices (regardless of which type of module) until after the OS boots.

That is so crazy. I guess you have to have a wired keyboard laying around for emergencys. Ohh that's a stupid statement. I've been running Jaguar since the day it came out and have only rebooted it after a software update. Ohh yeah and 1 power failure.

Who makes a good 2 button bluetooth mouse???

If you're using the Apple BT keyboard, all the NVRAM-based startup combos should work (C, Option, etc). You just need to have the firmware on the BT hardware current.
