A friend of mine has a G3 iMac (not sure which flavor). When he presses the power button, it lights up, he hears the monitor try to come on but sees nothing and then it shuts down. He has tried zapping PRAM, new battery etc etc etc.

Any secrets I am not aware of?
Forget the curveball Rickey, give 'im the heater.

What model iMac is it? It sounds like the Flyback Transformer problem found in the Rev A-D iMacs. FBT is on the analog board, and FBT failure is a common problem in those machines.

Good Luck,
