Absolutely. He will find a way to make someone else wrong. 'Tis his way.

I just want to hear from him personally. Get his perspective. Hear more of his BS.

Yea I remember reading that thread a while ago, and thinking that he's gonna feel retarted when the G5 iMac came out...well Ryan...???

Dude this threads gonna get locked though, they're already waiting for him in that thread you posted a link too, and you cant post threads about other members, and even if you did this is more of a lounge discussion...

It's all good though man I'm waiting right there with you to see that guy with his foot in his mouth.

But it's gotta be said...
In before the lock.

LOL - reading through that May '04 thread, I see that Eug Wanker was really pretty close, although we didn't get DVD-R at 8x, and the graphics card unfortunately didn't include the Radeon 9600 in the upper end! Apple gave a larger hard drive, too, and did drop the 15" screen, (but he surmised that might happen, too). Otherwise, his predicted specs were darned close, and pricing wasn't far off, either!

Eug: Do you have some inside track of some sort???

G5 iMac? What G5 iMac? There are no G5 iMacs in 2004, never. Truly, I can say there are, in fact, no G5 iMacs anywhere. The G4 iMac, praise Jobs, will rule a thousand years. Also, the G5 iMac overheats - if there were G5 iMacs which there are not. Lies!

Nice, f1000! Perfect. I for one will be happy if Ryan just disappears. It drives me nuts when people post like he did.

You're a funny guy Eug. I'd stay a tad more humble...

Let's see.

20" - right, but pretty obvious since we had that before too
G5 1.8 GHz 970FX - right on
600 MHz bus - bingo
Radeon 9600 Pro 64 MB - we wish
Single-channel DDR333 memory - 256 MB built-in - we got better
ATA100 7200 rpm 80 GB hard drive - we got better
SuperDrive 8X DVD+/-RW - not quite
Firewire 400 - right
USB 2 - right, but obvious
Bluetooth option - right, but obvious
802.11g option - right, but obvious
Integrated speakers - right
$1949 - we got it a 100 bucks cheaper

Result: 8 out of 13 (62% including the obvious guesses)

I'm not trying to poop on your shoulder patting party here, but I gather from this list that Apple still surprised us a bit... Especially on such touchy details as GPU or (to mention something more positive) price.

But granted, you were a hell of a lot closer than our friend Ryan here.

Heheh... In the context of that other thread we're dealing with tiny tiny details in comparison. As for the Bluetooth and 802.11g, I though it was obvious too, but I was surprised at the number of people who said Bluetooth was going to be integrated for free on all machines. BTW, the price was only $50 off.

Actually, I would have been happier with the 80 GB drive and the extra $50, if the 9600 Pro were included. In fact I'd say that a lot of people (the geeks anyway) would have been happier with this setup. The 160 GB drive is nice, but that's easily upgradable. The GPU is not unfortunately. Oh well, whatever.

As this page will tell you, Ryan hasn't posted here since Aug 4 so maybe he's on vacation or something. I'm sure he'll reply when he gets back...

Actually, he's still around. I did a search on his username, and he posts exclusively in the Mac Games area.

Let's go in there and pigpile him and give him a noogie.

I just read that thread. I got give Ryan his due, he stuck to his guns even in light of his own words, i.e., he wrote one thing but meant another.

He certainly added color so its too bad he's not around. It does take all types and even if was wrong he still gave us a good thread to discuss (this one and the original).

Question for you, PowerMacMan.

Is it not MacNN policy that no threads about members are allowed ?

I know you're not a mod in this forum, but still, how come you participate in a thread like this ?
I mean, technically, if this thread happened in you forum, you'd had to lock it, right ? Just wondering...

While I did not agree with Ryan's posts back then, the sort of witch hunt that this thread is developing into is really sad !

Well, I figured it wasn't necessarily correct for me to post here, but I figured had more of a reason to post here than most moderators would since I have a history with Ryan that no other mod has.
