Hi all.

Just a short post saying I've successfully modded an ATI Silencer 1 to fit into a G5. This was to replace the stock ATI Radeon 9800's fan which was very loud. Needless to say it's much more quiet and I can overclock the core up to 420mhz too.

The page describing the process is at

I can't imaging having to give up a PCI slot for a fan.

Yeah I know. Unfortunately I think that all quiet coolers (verax fan, Apple's 9800xt's fan, Apples's 6800Ultra's fan and the ATI Silencer) take up one PCI slot.

It depends on your priorities. If you value the low noise level and don't use all your PCI slots then it may be something to consider. Unfortunately I believe the slot it covers is also the fast 133mhz one.
