What would be the best way to get a DVD burner for a G3 266 Beige PowerMac. Can I get just any burner? What would be supported? I thought that with toast, I could put just about anything in there, does anyone have a suggestion?

Thanks

I would check out the drive compatibility database at www.xlr8yourmac.com.

I'm sure they have a ton of people reporting which internal DVD-R drives worked well with their beige G3's.

Which operating system are you running? If you're running OS 9, you're much more limited in the number of drives that are compatible out of the box or that can be made compatible through hacks.

If you're running OS X, the most popular drive to get is the Pioneer DVR-107D. It is the same drive that Apple ships with the G5s, so it is supported in Panther. It can be had from NewEgg.com for $80 and comes with a free pack of DVR-R discs.
