Veeeery nice indeed. But I can't figure out the xBench numbers. Comparing with my PB12" 1.33 my CPU results looks this:

I can see the floating point stuff being higher on the iMac G5, which sounds correct, but the overall score only has ten point difference.

Pretty machine.

However, what others have said in the past are definitely true: once you start to get the tangle of wires hanging out the right side, it's all over... until some third party comes along to fix it up.

If you string the wires through the hole in the foot/stand the wires are hidden. No third parties necessary.

Precisely. I don't know why this is so hard to figure out. It seems obvious that the large hole in the stand is there for this purpose.

Right, so everybody who has made that complaint is a fool for not knowing the obvious except for you two geniuses?

Sooner or later, whether you thread the cables through the hole or not, the cables will have to come out somewhere - either hanging out all on the right side or spread out like Medusa's hair i.e. ugly.

As for the inevitable question that will likely arise, I use a Logitech wireless KB/mouse combo and every cable I have (printer, Palm, digicam, etc) go down from the back of the desk so there are no cables on my desktop surface.

Crikey - look at the viewing angle on that LCD

The screen looks so sharp and bright it looks like one of those faked up photos you see in magazine adverts ! ...and the 20" has an even better screen.

Ok. Now I was being fairly patient about waiting for mine - now I want it bad !

Uhhhhhhhhh. Until you actually have one, maybe you could hold back on your criticism. My cables are hidden from the iMac to the desktop. Can't do anything about the mulitiple directions some people have them running on your desk.

The hole is large enough to handle all the cords that could be plugged into the available ports.

We did not claim to be a genius about this. Just being observant from something that I have experienced. Calm down just a little bit. This iMac is something to be enjoyed.

It was talked about before... as an anti-tipping method.

No... you will probably have one wire going from the keyboard to the system... and one for power. You can hide most of the others as the neck hides the wires from frontal viewing...

Wow, impressive. Screen viewing angle is very nice. I'm a little concerned with the xbench numbers as it seems a little low compared to my dualie G4, but I have no experience with that utility. I'm sure it's not indicative of real world performance anyhow.

XBench holds about as much real world relevance as a colander holds water.

The sleep light is huge. It is directly in front of the power button which is on the back. It goes from off to very bright. My PB is more of a pulse. Never goes completely off.

Here's a 17" model, took 2-3 days for 'regular' shipping from Shanghai. Original ship date was 9/29. Go Apple!
Love it so far. Definitely hear the fan. But livable.

The speakers sound great. My iMac is in our kitchen and with the sound turned up on high on iTunes and the computer it is plenty loud enough. The sound was designed to bounce off of your desktop and that appears to work well.

We played a DVD this evening and it is only loud enough for personal viewing. You will need speakers or some other connection to boost the sound. This is also the same for my PB and G3 iMac.

Don't like the see-through jello mold flat face, it looks like the original iPod.
Hope they change it at revision B to have the 4G iPod's curved face look.
