Greetings fellow Macophiles... today i will relate a problem with G5 freezes I was having.
For months I was having a wake from sleep problem wth my Rev A 2x2 G5. I ran the AHT many times and no problems were reported. Baffled by the problem and not willing to have the computer down due to repairs... I endured the problem by turning off the sleep option and running the computer 24/7 or shutting it down at certain times. Every new OS update I would pray the problem would disappear. Faithfully I updated my computer with each new patch... 10.3.1... to 10.3.5.... still had no luck with my problem. I had RAID 0 on dual maxtor 250gb drives... many times I took off the RAID 0 and then placed it back on... hoping with a fresh new install the freezes would disappear.... still had no luck. With or without RAID 0 the G5 would freeze anyway. Wondering why of all the people I had to be one of the unlucky few to get a bad G5... my first Mac at that too!!!
A few days ago I removed all external peripherals and I wasn't having any freezes while waking the g5 from sleep. Then I hooked up the ethernet for internet and still no problems. Today I plugged in the iSight and I had a freeze. Took out the iSight and no freezes since then. Usually my setup includes a iPod (firewire conected), iSight and epson printer. On my system it looks like the isight itself is causing problems... tomorrow will test the iPod and see if it causes any freezes too.. then i'll know my firewire is all screwed up.
While researching on the internet I came across the news feed on macnn about the iSight and iPod causing freeze problems while sharing the firewire connection and syncing the iPod. I was wondering if any other G5 owners were having problems with just an iSight or an iPod connected.
