We all know the screen is 20" diagonally, but that doesn't really tell us how big the screen actually is. Apple doesn't give the screen dimensions on the site, and I haven't been able to find it anywhere.

iMac G5 owners, could you break out a ruler or measuring tape and tell us just how tall & wide the screen is? I'm mostly interested in the 20", but will gladly accept information on the 17" too.

based on a 1.6 aspect ratio (based on the 1680x1050 resolution apple gives us), some high school geometry gives us 10.6" high and 16.96" wide. this is good news, because at a 1.25 aspect ratio (the typical 1280x1024), a 17" monitor is also 10.6" high. makes for good dual monitoring, no?

Good dual monitoring indeed!

I can't believe I didn't just sit down and do the algebra. I had convinced myself that I'd just get an infinity of solutions without actually realizing I could solve for one in terms of the other. Thanks for proving me wrong

They also state that the aspect ratio is 16:10 ( not 16:9 like widescreen TVs ), which is the 1.6 you speak of
