If anyone has received a G5 iMac in the UK direct from the UK Apple Store could you please let me know the following :-

1. What date did your iMac G5 ship?

2. What date did you receive it?

3. During shipping were you able to track the shipment via the Apple Shipping page?

The reason I ask is that my G5 shipped on Monday 20th September and it is not here yet, plus there is no information on the tracking screen.

The Apple Store have told me it can take 7 working days to arrive, which would mean it should arrive tomorrow or Wednesday. I would have thought if that was the case that some tracking info would be available.

I need to know what day it is arriving then I can be at home to receive it.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Ian

PS Sorry it's a new thread, but the shipping thread is a bit general and I suspect my question would not get read.

I spoke to Apple today.

They told me it is in Customs in The Netherlands.
I just wish we had the same tracking access that Apple seem to have.

According to Apple it should still be with me by Weds / Thurs.

Parky, You should have a 10 digit number on your tracking page starting with 80.
Go to http://www.apecode.com/appletrack/ and put it in there, it tells you the proper shipping details from the logistics company that handles shipping the palletes.
Seems like mine is still at Apple Shanghai with the status "Flight Booked"

Well I'm not happy, Still says "26 sep 04 - Flight Booked"
There goes the chance of it coming this week then.
Parky, how long after Flight Booked on the apecode.com thing did yours reach anywhere else than Apple Shanghai to give me a timeframe, mine says:

26 sep 04 - Flight Booked - Apple Shanghai
24 sep 04 - departed from product source - Kuehne & Nagel Shanghai
24 sep 04 - boxes scanned - Kuehne & Nagel Shanghai
24 sep 04 - Data received from supplier - Apple Shanghai

I'm not convinced mine is going to arrive tomorrow.

There has been no update at all on the TNT page today, if it was going to be delivered tomorrow surely it would have reached the UK by now.

I will have to check in the morning and see if it's any nearer.

If you want an eta give the depot a call (I think Manchester is 0161 873 8888) after 9am. Ask for the Traffic Office, and give them the shipping number. It's worked for me in the past and they should be able to give a rough estimate. Also if there are any problems these can be sorted out nice and early.

Well so far there has been no change at the TNT web site it still says :-

27 Sep 2004 23:32 Eindhoven Shipped From Originating Depot
27 Sep 2004 19:03 Arnhem Hub Consignment Received At Transit Point
27 Sep 2004 18:57 Arnhem Hub Consignment Passed Through Transit Poin

So from 23:52 on the 27th until now there has been no news, that's 30 hours with no update.

Does not look like it's arriving today :-(

The problem with shipments travelling by commercial airlines, is that there is no guaranteed booking. So shipment can be booked on a airline, but if too many passengers bring along too much luggage then the only way to make room is to bounce off the non-passenger freight (ie. your iMac).

It's a different story if its booked onto a dedicated freighter flight, but alas we'll probably never know.
