I have a 20" on order, and I am trying to find out how much it weighs without the stand since I need to find a monitor arm for it (it's going to live in a cabinet which is not tall enough for the computer with the stand). I don't suppose anyone here who is fortunate enough to have received one of these would care to help, but I would greatly appreciate it. The VESA mount adapter would add a little weight, I suppose, but in contrast to the apple wesite (which implies you need a special tool to get the stand off), an apple sales rep told me the stand comes off easy enough once the back is opened - although he wasn't willing to open the one he had sitting on his desk...
TIA

Really, now. I find that hard to believe, since the computer with the stand weighs 25.2 lbs!

Serious responses only, please. I have been given plenty of impressionistic "estimates", ranging from 20 lbs. (i.e., the stand weighs about 5 lbs.) to 29 lbs (i.e., the stand weighs negative 4 lbs.)

Ahh, the shipping weight is 29 pounds. Sorry about that.

But I still don't understand how it makes much difference whether it weighs 20 or 30 pounds.

I can't image that stand is more then 1 or 2 pounds. Not like it is 15 pound lighter after.

"Hello, what have we here?

If you mount it without removing the iMac from its packaging - it weighs 29 pounds.

That would be the worst case scenario, right?

I'd plan for that. Heck. I'd bump it up to 30, just to be safe. Who knows, you might want to attach an iSight to the carton you mounted on that purty monitor stand.

OK I'll stop now.

Somebody pry the stand off their iMac real quick - find a smallish scale that measures in milligrams or centweights or something - and get him a proper answer to his question.
