Here's an audacious event. My G4 DA 533 decided to immediately restart after shutdown. I origionally speculated the startup button component as being the problem(EXPENSIVE replacement) However, now it automatically restarts about 2 min AFTER shutdown.
(P.S. energy saver is not scheduled for restart)

is it a hard restart or a soft restart?

try resetting the power management unit.

Agreed on the PMU reset--this is a classic PMU problem. If you have a volt meter, make sure your battery reads at least 3.6 volts.
