Hi all,

this are my impressions of a dual G5 2.0Ghz rev.A and OS X 10.3.5. Prior to 10.3.5 (10.2.8 -> 10.3.4) the system had a lot of KP or freezes under some circumstances:

1) expanding large (650MB+) files;
2) additional GB of RAM from crucial (1GB OEM installed also);
3) iDVD;
4) safari;
5) NWN game;
5) cinebench

Went to install 10.3.5 and since then the entire system showed an extraordinary improvement in stabilty. Even the additional 1GB now shows codes as Apple RAM where before 10.3.5 they showed a different code.

I don't know if it is for the improved temp/fan control or anything else but I hope that 10.3.6 and 10.4 will do the same.

Some other readers can confirm my impressions?

Thanx
Sam

I never used 10.3.4 on my Dual G5, but on my prior Dual 500mhz G4, it was quite stable. That said, I am glad that your system is stable now. I believe, and from experience, a new computer will usually experience teething or growing pains in the first few weeks of operation and then over time become more stable (as long as you do the proper maintenance and such).

BTW... do you live in that beautiful old house in the pictures in your photo album? I'm jealous! Here in Phoenix AZ, everything is new, no old buildings like that (only the occasional rare historic site from 200 years ago or something).

It is part of a medieval village near my city. From time to time more pictures will be added: castels, roman ruins, gothic buildings etc... if you are interested bookmark the link the home page will evolve... the digital pictures are optimized, an original will take 7-10MB of iDisk space!

I have so far been overjoyed with my Dual 2.0. I bought a reconditioned Rev. A from the special deals page back in August, and I think I've had exactly 2 beachball episodes with it, which were both at least indirectly attributable to some sort of network error. I bought it mostly for use with Logic, and that app had been dead stable. Logic has bugs, but it has yet to crash.
