Since DDL DVI is just two DVI plugs in one (right?) wouldn't it be possible to use a dual head card that has two digital outputs with some sort of adapter to drive the display? It would be kind of cool if apple released an adaptor that split the DDL into two regular DVI ports so that the displa could be used with like the radeon 9800 SE (or any card with two digital outputs)

the trick is that the 6800U is rendering half the screen on one head, and the other half on the other head. this makes for a very unusual resolution for each head and so probably needs special software/hardware support. the card thinks its rendering at a weird resolution but the user doesn't notice it.

from what your saying it sounds like if you plugged in two 30 inch displays into the 6800 it would need to have 4 heads

also if what your saying is true then games that only work on one head would only show up on half of the display

No, you're not understanding. In total the two heads, make up the total resolution of the screen and to the game it looks like a normal resolution since the game is looking at the total resolution. Each head on the other hand is handling only half of the resolution of the screen.

So no you can't do it with two cards, you need one DDL card.
