I have the 800mhz g4 iMac w/ geforce 2 mx.. 768 of ram. and i believe the factory 5400 hard drive

I ran out of disk space so I bought a 7200rpm firewire drive from OWC (quick plug, great company! always good service). The drive seemed faster so I moved my whole user folder over to there and made one of those unix links from its original location. everything works great.

however i read somewhere that no matter what, an internal drive will be faster.. because its "closer" to the cpu.

would the fact that its a 7200 rpm external make up for the fact that its an external drive or should i move my folder back onto the internal drive and just keep my songs on the external?

Thanks!
