I have a tray loading Rev C iMac running OS X 10.3. I'd been having problems with the machine not waking from sleep or restarting properly. I know this was a problem with the analog board, more specifically, the FBT. This was my first time doing this, but it seemed to go well.

I replaced the FBT on the iMac and then restarted the machine. The machine started up, but the monitor gives off a sickly green color now. There's no color now. Everything is that shade of green. At first I thought this could be fixed in the system preferences, or using the colorsync utility, but that didn't seem to work. I zapped the PRAM, but that didn't seem to work either.

I'm stumped as to what is causing this. Could this be a cable that wasn't properly replaced?

The sleep mode works well and the machine restarts properly now, but I don't know what my next course of action would be.

Does the monitor need to be recalibrated? Is there a way to do this on my own?

Any help would be appreciated.

the crt may simply be on its last legs, only scanning green (and not red, blue)

The Neck may not have been connected properly. You may have bent some pins on the CRT. Also, it's possible the RGB cable didn't get reconnected properly. It's not likely a bad flyback, as that's there to let the electrons escape from the CRT.

Double check that you didn't bend any pins and that the neck is seated properly.

To those that read this in the future: CRTs are dangerous. Don't try this at home without properly discharging the CRT; especially don't do this unless there is someone nearby to call 911 and perform CPR--that goes for experienced professionals too.

If the screen is an off color, it's not the flyback transformer on the PAV board. That's like saying that your computer is running slowly because a circuit breaker got tripped. it's related to the thing working, but can't make that kind of a difference. The electrons exit the CRT through the flyback. If there is no red on the screen, either the red gun in the CRT is bad, or it isn't getting a signal (bent pins, rgb cable, etc...). Clearly, the flyback is good because the ONE cable to it works fine for green and blue.
