I have the possibility of acquiring a 800Mhz eMac. I'm not sure if it has a SuperDrive or not but either way it is still in its original packaging and it has never been opened any farther than the outer box. Ok now that I have established that it is in mint condition and that it has never been used, How much should I pay for it?, what do You think would be a fair price for the machine, also note that the seller believes "this machine is so far out of date that I don't believe we can find a use for it" ha I've been using a 500MHz iMac to run Photoshop so certaintly an eMac would be an improvment. I have been looking around and PowerMax (overpriced as always) has a used one for $799 US of then there's eBay that has one for $202.50 US.
Thank You for reading this neverending narrative , and thanks in advance for your thoughts!

Apple has a refurb eMac 1.25GHz/256MB/40GB/Combo model for $699 in their Special Deals section. With that one you would also get the full warranty. Having that information would probably put you into a better position to deal. Also, the 800MHz model was introduced Aug 2002 and discontinued Oct 2003. It would most likely not qualify for an extended warranty.
Price? I would give $500 tops. That's just my opinion though. Let us know how it turns out.

I believe that the 800Mhz model had a weaker GPU as well, correct me if I'm wrong. I wouldn't give more than $500 and that's being generous. If your going to haggle $425 is a price you should aim for.

You are right about the GPU. Also, it lacks USB 2.0 and has slower RAM. The 800MHz version has PC100 while the newer versions have PC2700.

If the seller believes "this machine is so far out of date that I don't believe we can find a use for it" then make your first offer very low. Offer them 100 for it. If it's "out of date" and they consider it to be useless they'll probably be happy to see the back of it, and you could have a real bargain.
No need to feel guilty, they haven't even opened the box, they're not going to take the time to get a good price for it.

Well they decided not to sell it, grrr. But that refurb is quite intriguing I will have to look into it a little more. Thanks all of you for the input!
